In March of 2026, we moved outside the walls of San Quentin to produce SQFF PRESENTS @ CCWF - at Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla - the largest women’s prison in the country, expanding our community exponentially!
SQFF brings industry guests together with incarcerated artists and residents for a shared experience of screenings, filmmaker panels and one-on-one interaction, fostering opportunities for creative growth and professional training, and opening the door to potential career pathways.
We welcome your interest, engagement, and support!
About SQFF
SQFF26 will return to San Quentin Rehabilitation Center on October 22-23 for our 3rd annual festival, celebrating the creativity and perspectives of currently and formerly incarcerated filmmakers in the Short Film categories, and welcoming all filmmakers to compete in the Long Short and Feature categories.
Filmmakers are welcome to submit now through July 15th on Film Freeway, where you will find our updated categories and eligibility rules – we welcome your participation!!
The impact of this groundbreaking festival, the first ever to take place inside a prison, has already expanded to bring events to other facilities.
